Remanufactured engines at Variety Engines run from 1.2L four-cylinders up to 7.4L V8s, with four-, six-, eight- and ten-cylinder long blocks in OHV, SOHC and DOHC configurations. The bulk of what we stock is Honda and Acura, Ford and Lincoln, Toyota and Lexus, GM, Nissan and Infiniti, and Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep, in gasoline, flex-fuel, diesel, LPG and hybrid applications.

What fits what

Coverage in this category currently spans model years 1975 through 2024. That includes a 1975-1989 Chevrolet 454, 1980-1984 Toyota 22R pickups and 4Runners, 1990s and 2000s Honda F- and J-series, Ford EcoBoost and Duratec V6s, Triton 6.8L V10s, 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI V8s, GM Ecotec fours and Duramax 6.6L diesels, Nissan QR25DE and VQ35DE, and recent 2.0L turbo fours. Every listing states the years and the vehicles it was built for.

How to identify yours

Displacement alone is not enough on a modern engine. Pull the block casting number and match it to the “Additional information” tab on the listing – Honda and Acura stamp theirs on the driver-side bell housing (R70, R40, P13, PVK, J35A6), Toyota casts the family code on the block (2AZ, 1MZ, 2GR, 1GR, 2UZ), Ford uses a basic part number such as AT4E-6015-C24C or BC3Q-6015-CD, GM uses eight-digit numbers such as 12629402, and Chrysler HEMI blocks read 53021318DL or 53021319DK. Head casting, crank casting and casting location are listed where we have them. Check the eighth digit of your VIN for the engine code, and read the notes: VVT, dual VVT, MDS, turbo, SMOG or federal emissions, and hybrid variants all change what will bolt in.

Core charge and warranty

Remanufactured engines are sold on an exchange basis, so a refundable core charge may apply and your old unit goes back as the core. Every engine we sell carries a 6-month limited warranty as standard. On qualifying remanufactured units a 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a waiver of the core fee are available on request – both have to be arranged at the time of purchase and are not applied automatically.
