3.5L

Remanufactured 3.5L engines are the single largest displacement group we stock, and every one of them is a V6. Most are 24-valve, split roughly evenly between SOHC and DOHC designs from Honda, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, GM and Chrysler.

What fits what

Coverage runs 1995 through 2019. Honda and Acura J-series listings include J35A1, J35A3, J35A4, J35A5, J35A6, J35A7, J35A9, J35Y1, J35Z1 through J35Z8 and J37A1, fitted to Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline and Acura TL, RL and MDX. Ford listings include the naturally aspirated Duratec 3.5L and the turbo EcoBoost 3.5L for 2010-2019 Taurus, Flex, Explorer, Police Interceptor, F-150, Expedition and Lincoln MKS, MKT and Navigator. Nissan and Infiniti listings are VQ35DE for 2007-2016. Toyota and Lexus listings are 2GRFE, 2GRFSE and 2GRFXE. There is also the GM LZ4 for 2007-2010 Chevrolet and Pontiac, a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5L, a 2000-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue and Aurora, and the Nissan VG33E for the 1995-2000 Pathfinder and Infiniti QX4.

How to identify yours

Displacement gets you into the right family and no further. On Honda and Acura, the J-series sub-code is cast on the left or driver-side bell housing and our listings quote it exactly – “left side bell housing (J35A6)”, “left side bell housing (J35A9)” and so on – with block castings R70, RGL, RYE, RYP, PVK, PGE and P8F. On Ford, match the block casting: AT4E-6015-C24C and AT4E-6015-CD on EcoBoost units, BL3E-6015-AB/BA on the Duratec, with head casting DG1E-6090-AA. On Nissan the block reads VQ35DE or JA1 with head casting 9N0; on Toyota the block reads 2GR. Two notes matter most here: whether a Honda J35 is a VCM or non-VCM engine, and whether a Ford 3.5L is EcoBoost turbo or naturally aspirated. Those are not interchangeable.

Core charge and warranty

Exchange units – a refundable core charge may apply and your old engine returns as the core. Every engine carries a 6-month limited warranty as standard. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units and are arranged at the time of purchase; they are not automatic.
