VW is the make level group inside Engines. Six remanufactured Volkswagen engines are listed here, four of them 2.0L and two of them 2.5L. Every one is an exchange unit. The listings are built around a year range and the models that share the engine, so read the whole title before you match on displacement alone.

What fits what

The 2.0L group covers four applications. A 1993-1995 Volkswagen Jetta and Golf. A 2009-2010 Volkswagen Jetta listed as diesel. A 2011-2015 Volkswagen Jetta. And a Volkswagen BEV 2.0L L4 engine listed for 2003-2005.

The 2.5L group covers two applications, both five cylinder. One is for 2005-2011 Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, Beetle and Rabbit. The other is for 2011-2014 Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, Beetle and Passat. The Rabbit appears only in the earlier range and the Passat only in the later one, so if you are running one of those two the year range decides it for you.

How to identify yours

Start with displacement and cylinder count, since 2.0L here is four cylinder and 2.5L here is five cylinder. Then confirm fuel type. Only the 2009-2010 Jetta is listed as diesel; the other 2.0L listings do not state a fuel type, so do not assume from the year. The 2003-2005 listing is the only one in this category with full attributes recorded, carrying vendor SKU 924PG, fuel type gasoline, four cylinders, block type L, SOHC heads and 8 valves. The remaining five listings hold no vendor SKU, casting number or valve count, so they are matched by year and model. These are remanufactured exchange units, so a refundable core charge may apply. No amount is published anywhere, so call to confirm it before you order. A 6-month limited warranty is standard. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
