SHOP EQUIPMENT

The Shop Equipment department covers the fixed and mobile hardware a working bay is built around: two-post, four-post, scissor, alignment, parking, portable and mobile column lifts, plus rolling bridge jacks, tire changers, wheel balancers and aligners, brake lathes, air compressors, A/C recovery machines, part washers, shop presses, transmission jacks, tool storage and garage cabinets. Stock runs from single-bay home garages through to multi-bay independent shops, fleet garages and dealership service departments. Items here are new unless a listing states otherwise, and nothing in this department is sold as refurbished.

How to choose

Start with capacity, and rate it to the heaviest vehicle you will put on the lift rather than the average one. Two-post models here run from about 7,000 lb to 20,000 lb, four-post from 7,000 lb to 40,000 lb, and mobile column sets to 72,000 lb across four columns. Next check the building. Clearfloor two-post lifts need overhead clearance for the vehicle plus the crossbar; baseplate models fit under low ceilings by running the lines across the floor. Measure ceiling height, roll-up door height and obstructions such as lights and heaters before you order. Concrete matters as much as the ceiling, because lifts are anchored and the manufacturer specifies a minimum slab thickness, strength and cure. Then power. Most lifts, changers and balancers listed here run 208-230V single phase; larger air compressors and some heavy equipment are offered in single or three phase, so confirm what your panel supplies and what amperage is free. Portable and low-rise units running on 110-115V are the practical route where three-phase power or an anchored slab is not available.

Installation, freight and what is included

Shop equipment ships by freight, usually crated or palletized, with dock or liftgate delivery. Inspect for damage before signing. Installation is not included by default: lifts require anchoring and, where applicable, electrical hookup by a licensed electrician. Many lift models sold here are ALI Certified, and the product page says so where that applies. That certification is held by the manufacturer and attaches to the specific lift model; Variety Engines sells those models and is not itself ALI certified or accredited. A 6-month limited warranty applies as standard. The 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and core-fee waiver available on request cover qualifying remanufactured drivetrain units only, not new shop equipment.
