Two Post Lifts
Two-post lifts give full undercarriage access in the smallest footprint of any permanent lift, which is why they are the default choice for general repair, brake, exhaust, suspension and transmission work. The range here runs from portable and low-ceiling models around 7,000 lb suited to home garages up to the 16,000 lb and 20,000 lb super-duty units built for fleet, airport and emergency-vehicle service. Brands stocked include BendPak, Atlas, Tuxedo, Challenger, Rotary, Forward, MaxJax, Dannmar and Quality Lifts.
How to choose
Capacity comes first: rate the lift for the heaviest vehicle you will lift, including payload. Then decide symmetric or asymmetric. Symmetric columns face each other and balance the vehicle evenly, which suits trucks and vans; asymmetric columns are rotated so the vehicle sits further back, giving better door clearance in a car-focused bay. Clearfloor, or overhead, models keep the floor clear but need the crossbar height plus the vehicle height under your ceiling. Baseplate models run the hydraulic and equalization lines across the floor and fit under low ceilings. Measure ceiling height, roll-up door height, lights and heaters before ordering. Concrete is the constraint most buyers miss: two-post lifts are anchored, and the manufacturer specifies a minimum slab thickness, strength and cure. Power on most models here is 208-230V single phase, so confirm your supply and available amperage. Arm configuration matters too. Three-stage telescoping arms reach the lift points on both low sports cars and long-wheelbase trucks, where standard arms may not.
Installation, freight and what is included
Lifts ship crated by freight and are heavy, so arrange dock or liftgate delivery and inspect before signing. Anchoring and electrical hookup are the buyer’s responsibility unless arranged separately; use a licensed electrician and follow the manufacturer’s anchor and torque specification. Many of the two-post models listed here are ALI Certified. That certification is held by the manufacturer and applies to the specific lift model. Variety Engines is a seller of those models, not a certifying body, and is not itself ALI certified or accredited. A 6-month limited warranty applies as standard; the extended warranty offered on qualifying remanufactured drivetrain units does not cover new lifts.
