Four Post Lifts

Four-post lifts are drive-on runway lifts. They load faster than a two-post, need no hunting for lift points, and hold a vehicle safely for long periods, which makes them the usual pick for storage, detailing, exhaust and general service, and for anyone who wants to park one car above another. Capacities here run from about 7,000 lb for home and light-service use up to 27,000 lb and 40,000 lb for heavy truck bays. BendPak, Atlas, Challenger, Tuxedo, Forward, Rotary and Dannmar are stocked.

How to choose

Decide first whether the lift is for service or for storage. Service configurations pair the runways with rolling bridge jacks so wheels can come off; storage configurations prioritize a low overall height and a small footprint. Then measure. Runway length and overall length have to fit the bay with room to walk around, and overall width matters if you are placing two lifts side by side. Rise height, plus the height of the vehicle on top, plus the height of the vehicle underneath, must clear your ceiling. This is where most four-post plans fail, so measure to the lowest obstruction rather than to the peak. Many four-post lifts are freestanding and do not have to be anchored, which is why they suit rented or thin-slab garages, but check the requirement for your model and confirm the slab is level. Extended-width and extended-length variants exist for dually trucks and long wheelbases. Electrical supply is commonly 110-115V or 208-230V single phase depending on model. Optional caster kits let a freestanding lift be repositioned.

Installation, freight and what is included

Four-post lifts ship crated by freight on a pallet or flatbed; check for damage before signing. Assembly is typically buyer-arranged, with runways, crossmembers and columns bolted together and the hydraulic and cable systems set and adjusted per the manual. Accessories such as bridge jacks, drip trays, caster kits and approach ramps are separate listings unless the product title states a bundle. Many models here are ALI Certified. That certification is held by the manufacturer and attaches to the lift model, not to the seller; Variety Engines is not itself ALI certified or accredited. A 6-month limited warranty applies as standard, and the extended remanufactured-unit warranty does not apply to new lifts.
