Inground Lifts

Inground lifts are set into the shop floor rather than bolted to it, so the bay stays clear when the lift is down. This category lists five new Challenger inground lifts and sits under Shop Equipment. The five split by capacity and by layout: two 12000 lb models, two 10000 lb models and one 9000 lb drive on pad lift.

How to choose

Start with capacity. The Challenger EW1220 is a 12000 lb wide inground car lift and the EV1220 is a 12000 lb heavy duty inground car lift. At 10000 lb there is the EW1020 wide inground car lift and the EV1020 inground car lift. The EV1020XP9 is a 9000 lb inground drive on pad lift, which is the only drive on pad model here. The wide models are the EW pair. If your work is mostly wider vehicles, that is the difference to weigh against the standard EV layout at the same capacity.

All five titles state ALI Certified. That certification is held by the manufacturer and applies to the specific lift model. Variety Engines is a seller of those models, not a certifying body, and is not itself ALI certified, accredited or a member. We do not publish rise height, overall length or power requirements on this page, so take those from the Challenger spec sheet for the model you are considering, or call and we will read the listing detail with you.

Installation, freight and what is included

An inground lift needs excavation and a prepared pit, so plan the concrete work and any local permits before the lift arrives. Installation is not included and should be arranged with a qualified installer. What ships with each model is set by Challenger, so ask before you buy if a particular adapter or accessory matters to your work.

These are new machines and they carry the manufacturer’s warranty. The 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty offered on qualifying remanufactured drivetrain units does not apply to shop equipment. We ship shop equipment by freight, so you need a delivery point a freight truck can reach and a way to get the crate off the truck. Payment is by bank transfer or check.
