This is the 1.6L bracket of our remanufactured engine catalogue, under Engines. Eleven engines are listed and every one that carries a block type is a four cylinder L block.

What fits what

Honda and Acura coverage is four engines: a D16Y8 for 1999-2000, a D16Y8 for 1996-1998, a D16Y7 for 1996-2000 and a B16A2 for 1996-2000. Nissan coverage is five: an HR16DE for 2008-2011, a 2012-2013 Nissan Versa and Micra HR16DE, a 2011-2014 Nissan Juke MR16DDT, a 2015-2016 Nissan Sentra and Juke MR16DDT, and a 2015-2017 Nissan Juke Nismo MR16DDT. The remaining two are a 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta engine and a 2009 Chevy Aveo and Pontiac G3 engine.

How to identify yours

The three D series Honda engines are the ones most often confused, and the year ranges overlap. All three carry the casting on the driver side bell housing and all three are SOHC 16 valve, so use the block casting and the vendor SKU. The 1999-2000 D16Y8 is vendor SKU 538C with block casting D16Y8 or P2E. The 1996-1998 D16Y8 is vendor SKU 538A with the same block casting. The 1996-2000 D16Y7 is vendor SKU 538B with block casting D16Y7 or P2E. All three are listed with the water pump and the timing gears, belt and tensioner installed.

The B16A2 is the DOHC engine on this page. It is vendor SKU 536A with block casting B16A2, PR3 or P2T, cast at the left bellhousing bottom, DOHC 16 valve. The Nissan HR16DE is vendor SKU 357 with block casting HR16DE or ED0 and crank casting EE0, DOHC 16 valve. Read the numbers off your own block and match them to the listing. Ignore the Body Style attribute on these products; it is mislabelled across the catalogue and does not describe the vehicle.

Core charge and warranty

These are exchange units, so a refundable core charge may apply. No core amount is published anywhere, so call for it. Remanufactured drivetrain units carry a 6-month limited warranty. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
