One head casting, 55561059, and one block casting, 90537806, are all that is recorded for this 2.0L. There is no separate left and right head entry and no engine code on file. Vehicles listed are the Chevy Cobalt and the Saturn Ion for 2005 through 2007. Given how little identifying data is published, match those two casting numbers directly against your engine rather than ordering on year and displacement, and confirm the result if either number is hard to read on your unit.

  • Deep Clean – To start the remanufacturing process, every engine is fully disassembled and hot tanked (cast iron) or thermally cleaned (aluminum)
  • Inspection – Magnaflux testing uses magnetic particles to inspect metal, checking for microscopic cracks and fissures that will cause long-term failure. All parts are visually inspected as well.
  • Machining and New Parts – Deck surfaces are CNC machined and new parts are added. New parts include bearings, pistons, rings, lifters, oil pump, gaskets, Viton™ valve seals, freeze plugs, galley plugs and either a new timing chain (with new tensioners) or a new timing belt (with new tensioner). If an engine has a timing-driven water pump, a new pump is installed.
  • SIM Testing – Each engine is SIM tested after reassembly, with the cooling and oil systems being fully pressurized and the crank being spun at high RPM to verify compression and build quality.

Every engine carries a 6-month limited warranty as standard. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core-fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units — ask us before you order and we will confirm eligibility.
