T5

The T5 is a five speed manual gearbox family listed under Transmissions and Manual. Every unit here is remanufactured. The listings split into Ford applications and GM applications, and within each the differences are in the case, the shifter position and the World Class or Non-World Class build.

What fits what

Ford coverage is Mustang and Capri: 1983-1984 Mustang, 1983-1984 Mustang and Capri V8, 1985-1986 Mustang, 1985-1993 Mustang V8, 1987-1993 Mustang, 1994-1995 5.0 Mustang, 1994-1998 Mustang V6, 1999-2004 Mustang 3.8L and 3.9L, and 2005-2007 Mustang 4.0L.

How to identify yours

The Hollander number is the most reliable identifier here, and every listing has one. Examples are 400-02017A, 400-02018A, 400-02069B, 400-02203, 400-02629, 400-02682, 400-02735, 400-02871, 400-02914, 400-03362, 400-03467A, 400-04562 and 400-00608.

After that, work through the case and shifter notes. The Ford units are described as all aluminium with a removable bell housing and a top cover. Most have the shifter in the tail housing; the 2005-2007 4.0L unit is remote mounted with a bolt-on rear output yoke with balancer, and the 1999-2004 unit has a slip yoke rear output shaft. The GM units are described with a 10 bolt top cover, the shifter mounted in the tail housing and cast 1352, and the S10, S15 and Sonoma units add an electronic speedometer. Build type matters: some listings state World Class Transmission and some state Non-World Class Transmission. Several also carry the note that ratios may vary.

These are exchange units and a refundable core charge may apply. Call 216-250-6666 for the amount. See the remanufacturing process and the warranty page.
