Coverage runs Cherokee, Wrangler and CJ. The Cherokee listings are the only ones that overlap in years, and the 1987-1993 Cherokee unit sits alongside the 1994-1996 and 1997-2000 4×4 units.

How to identify yours

The slave cylinder is the main split in this group. Four units are listed with an external slave cylinder: the 1997-2000 Cherokee 4×4, the 1994-1996 Cherokee 4×4, the 1997-2002 Wrangler and the 1994-1995 Wrangler. Three are listed with an internal slave cylinder: the 1987-1993 Cherokee, the 1992-1993 Wrangler 2WD and the 1992-1993 Wrangler 4×4. The 1984-1986 CJ listing does not state one.

The two 1992-1993 Wrangler units are otherwise close, so read the extra note: the 4×4 unit is described as Without Reverse Lock Out In The Case and carries ID 53006176, while the 2WD unit carries ID 53006169. The two Cherokee 4×4 units separate only on year range and Hollander number, 400-02700 for 1994-1996 and 400-02993 for 1997-2000, and neither carries an ID number in the data.

The 1984-1986 CJ listing is the one with several IDs recorded against it, so quote the number stamped on your case when you call.

Core charge and warranty

These are remanufactured exchange units. A refundable core charge may apply and no core amount is published, so call for the figure. Remanufactured drivetrain units carry a 6-month limited warranty as standard. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
