NV273

The NV273 is a transfer case, and this category lists five remanufactured NV273 units: one for GM and four for RAM. All five are electric shift and all five state that a new shift motor is included. They are remanufactured exchange units and sit under Transfer Cases. On the RAM units the input spline count and shift shaft shape tell the four apart.

What fits what

The GM unit is listed for 2005-2008 GM, vendor SKU RTC273G-1M. The RAM units cover 2003-2005 RAM 2500 and 3500 with 29 spline input, 2003-2005 RAM 2500 and 3500 with 23 spline input, 2006-2012 RAM 2500 and 3500 with 29 spline input, and 2006-2011 RAM 1500, 2500 and 3500 with 23 spline input.

How to identify yours

The GM unit is described as remote mount with a bolt on yoke on the input and on the front and rear output shafts, tag numbers 12573073, 24235129, 24238814 and 24252845, other number UMT139-6. All four RAM units are listed with a 34 spline slip yoke style rear output and no speedo hole. The 2003-2005 pair have a shift shaft that is round with two flat spots: the 29 spline version has 1.55 inch exposed length on the input shaft, tag numbers 52105651AB through 52105651AF, Hollander number 412-497, other number UMT313-13, vendor SKU RTC273D-2M; the 23 spline version has 0.84 inch exposed length, tag numbers 52105650AB through 52105650AF, Hollander number 412-499, other number UMT313-12, vendor SKU RTC273D-1M.

The later RAM pair have a star shaped shift shaft. The 2006-2012 29 spline unit lists 1.55 inch exposed length, tag numbers 52123025AA, 52123025AB and 52123025AD, Hollander number 412-616, other number UMT313-18, vendor SKU RTC273D-4M. The 2006-2011 23 spline unit lists 0.84 inch exposed length, tag numbers 52123023AA and 52123024AB, Hollander numbers 412-617 and 412-624, other number UMT313-17, vendor SKU RTC273D-3M. Count the input splines and look at the shift shaft before you order.

Core charge and warranty

Remanufactured drivetrain units carry a 6-month limited warranty. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
