NP245

The NP245 is a transfer case, and this category lists five remanufactured NP245 units for Jeep. All five are electric shift. Two of them include a new shift motor and three of them state that the shift motor is not included, so check which version you are buying. Every unit is described with a cupped style front output yoke and a flat flange style rear output yoke. They are remanufactured exchange units and sit under Transfer Cases.

What fits what

Coverage comes off the titles. There are two units for 2007-2009 Jeep 3.0L and Grand Cherokee 3.0L, one with a new shift motor included and one without. There are two for 2006-2008 Grand Cherokee 3.7L on the same split. The fifth is listed for 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L and 5.7L, shift motor not included.

How to identify yours

The input shaft splines are the sharpest divider. The 3.0L units say the input shaft only has external splines and add that a damper is mounted on the extension housing; they list tag numbers 52105904AB and 52105904AD, Hollander number 412-625, other number UMT245-2, vendor SKUs RTC245J-3 and RTC245J-3M. The 3.7L units say the input shaft has internal and external splines; tag numbers 52853391AA, 52853391AB and 52853391AC, Hollander number 412-618, other number UMT245-1, vendor SKUs RTC245J-2 and RTC245J-2M. The 4.7L and 5.7L unit, vendor SKU RTC245J-1, is listed with a 23 spline input, 1.75 inch exposed length on the input shaft, input shaft only has internal splines, flange rear output and cupped front output, tag numbers 52105703AA and 52105703AB, Hollander number 412-551, other number UMT245. Pull the tag number off your own case and match it exactly.

Core charge and warranty

Remanufactured drivetrain units carry a 6-month limited warranty. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying remanufactured units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
