NP233 remanufactured transfer cases. Eight units are listed, covering GM S10, S15, Blazer and Envoy applications and Dodge Dakota and Durango. Every unit here is electric shift.

How to identify yours

Spline counts split the GM units from the Dodge units. GM cases are 27 Spline Front Input with either a 27 or a 32 Spline slip rear output. Dodge cases are 23 Spline Input with 0.84 Inch Exposed Length On Input Shaft and a 32 Spline Rear Output.

Then check the front output. The 1996-2005 GM units and both 1994 S10 units have a Slip Yoke Style Front Output Shaft. The 1992-1993 S10 and the 1992-1994 S10 and S15 have a Bolt On Front Output Yoke. Both Dodge units use a Cup Style yoke.

The front seal retainer separates two GM cases that are otherwise close: Raised on the 1996-2005 units, Flat on the 1994 S10 RTC233G-3. All GM units here list a Vacuum Type Shift Indicator Switch.

On the Dodge units the shift shaft is the tell. The 2005-2007 Dakota is splined, tag number 52853081AA, Hollander Number 412-548. The 2001-2004 Dakota and Durango is Double D, tag number 52105472 with AB, AC, AD, AE and AF suffixes, Hollander Number 412-446, and includes a new shift motor. Its notes read NV233 while its model number is NP233.

Whether the shift motor comes with the case is not consistent. RTC233G-5M and the 2001-2004 Dakota and Durango include a new shift motor. RTC233G-5 and the 2005-2007 Dakota do not.

These are remanufactured exchange units. A refundable core charge may apply and no core amount is published, so call for the figure. Remanufactured drivetrain units carry a 6-month limited warranty as standard. A 7-year / 1,000,000-mile extended warranty and a core fee waiver are available on request for qualifying units, must be arranged at the time of purchase, and are not automatic.
